We're pleased to have installed and started up compost aeration and heat recovery systems in VT, MA, NY, Ontario, and Quebec this year. We enjoyed crossing Lake Champlain with one of our AGT Mini-Systems in August!
Jennifer Perry and Jon Norman operate a food scrap collection business, small farm and composting site in the Adirondacks of NY near the Saranac River. AGT designed an extended ASP composting pad powered by a four-zone AGT Mini-System and supported installation in October with welded HDPE aeration pipes. The upgrades enable Jon and Jen to expand their composting capacity on a limited food print, reduce labor and shorten their processing cycle. The system is sized for future greenhouse heating and expansion.
This diversified farm is just outside Boston, raising vegetables, chickens, greenhouses and a farm store. They buy compost for soil improvement and fertility, and use leaves for mulch. AGT worked with farm manager Brendan Murtha and their team on system planning and design, grant applications, equipment fabrication and installation. Their 4-zone compost aeration system enables them to mix leaves, horse manure and farm residuals to make their own compost for on-farm use. The composting bays were sited next to an existing greenhouse to utilized compost aeration and heat recovery in a future phase.
This municipal facility had reached its capacity for composting leaves, food scraps and other residuals using the turned windrow composting method. AGT worked on the design, funding development and planning phases, then provided a 4-zone AGT Compost Hot Box 250-4R and was part of the construction and implementation team. These upgrades enabled WSWMD to grow its permitted capacity on the same limited footprint, accelerate its composting process and reduce labor.
Let's work together in the New Year!
2026 is going to be a big year here at Agrilab Technologies. If you want to be part of it, then let us know.
The Compost Council of Canada held its annual Organics Recycling Conference November 4-6, this year in Ottawa, Ontario. Brian Jerose presented a session on compost aeration and heat recovery. Jenny Millson of Millson Forestry Service co-presented about their site in Timmins, Ontario. It's exciting to see all the good work done across Canada and grow opportunities for Agrilab Technologies.
Brian Jerose has been selected to speak at the US Composting Council's COMPOST 2026 Conference, this year in Sacramento, CA, February 2-5. The session is "Compost Aeration and Heat Recovery Systems in the US and Canada". This event is the largest composting gathering each year and we hope to see some of you there!
Agrilab Technologies is a proud sponsor of the Composter Podcast this season, hosted by Jayne Merner of Earth Care Farm. Episodes include great conversations with composters across the country including Nathan Rutz of Rust Belt Riders in Cleveland, OH and Dan Goossen of Green Mountain Compost in Williston, VT. Thoughtful insights on composting practices, technologies, challenges and more! Check it out!
